Phuket Homes in Surin – Surin is a great place. It's beach is one of the best on the island and has a charm all of its own.
It has a sort of Bohemian feel to it with its rickety bamboo beachfront bars and restaurants, although sadly many now are being upgraded to concrete.
As it's 20 minutes north of Patong, there is very little of the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas, making it a great place to chill out.
Drop into the Divers Bar on Surin Beach for a cold one and hear tales about the famous people regularly seen, such as Kate Moss, Roger Moore, The Spice Girls and Jenson Button
as they go for a wander from the very exclusive resorts at the north end of Surin bay including the Amanburi Hotel, Twin Palms hotel and the Rydges Beach Resort.
The Twin Palms hotel restaurant (try their Sunday buffet), is the place to see and be seen.
And Leam Sing beach, a mile south of Surin, is another "Surin" beach that still retains its rustic character and is well worth the steep walk down from the main road, although it can get busy in the high season.

From a property perspective, Surin is an up market town with the hill overlooking the beach being full of premier properties.
Surin cannot really be called trendy, as the money here tends to be quietly reserved, but the properties here are among the most expensive on the island.
Although cosmopolitan, like the rest of Phuket, English speaking ex-pats seem to dominate the area.
On the main road north of the center of Surin there are a number of up market antique shops and the Plaza shopping mall, which service the well-to-do that visit and live here.
Surin itself is a well established resort town and as such has little by the way of new developments although Cherngtalay and the very up market
Laguna area, slightly to the north, still has land to spare and development there still goes on at a pace.
An example of this is the condo development in Tamarind Hills by the West Haven Group where an unfurnished 2 bed 2 bath unit will come in at around 275,000 USD.
So if you would like to rub shoulders with the rich and famous, and can afford the prices in Surin, you should get in quick before it becomes a billionaires enclave.
